Welcome

Welcome to the very first issue of The Trailblazer's Journal!

Every month, we'll pull the sharpest moments from Ingleside Reviews: Innovators Unveiled and hand them to you in one place: the frameworks, the pull quotes, the tips you can actually use. This issue features four conversations about what it really costs to build something that lasts: alignment, communication, resilience, and testing before you build.

This month, we're unveiling:

THE TRAILBLAZER’S JOURNEY

Russell Nohelty, Author & Founder of Hapitalist

  • Russell Nohelty, author and founder of Hapitalist

Russell has started seven companies and watched most of them fall apart from misalignment. His framework reframes business around a simple idea: if the work doesn't bring you joy, you're solving the wrong problem. He and A.D. dig into burnout, identity, and what "enough" actually means once the money stops being the obstacle.

  • Aurora Winter, author, TV producer, and founder

Aurora built her career on a discovery from her film and television days: a good idea wrapped in emotion moves people further than an idea alone. She and A.D. discuss reinvention at any age, the difference between print and video communication, and why staying human matters more, not less, in the age of AI.

Aurora Winter: How to Turn a Book Into a Seven-Figure Business

  • Arthur "Artie" Chang, President and CEO of PanTera Networks

From Bell Labs to founding his own company, Artie has led through nearly every major shift in tech, from cloud to AI. He shared the lesson that shaped his leadership style early: told to "build his own office" on his first day at a startup, with nothing but four walls and a floor. He and A.D. discuss crawl-walk-run AI adoption and the cost of moving too fast.

Arthur Chang: Building Through Four Decades of Technology Change

  • Andrew Ackerman, two-time founder, venture investor, and author

Andrew has sat on both sides of the fundraising table and wrote a novel, The Entrepreneur's Odyssey, to capture what the startup journey actually feels like from the inside. He and A.D. cover what founders misunderstand about VCs, what separates founders who survive from those who burn out, and why he invests in "missionaries, not mercenaries."

HIGHLIGHTS AND KEY INSIGHTS

Arthur Chang, President & CEO of PanTera Networks

Founder Takeaway of the Month

Arthur "Artie" Chang, President and CEO of PanTera Networks, on the three-part philosophy that's carried him through four decades of leading in tech:

"Make great decisions. Don't micromanage. Encourage passion, discourage emotion."

Simple on paper, harder in practice, especially the last one. Artie's point: passion drives people to push through hard problems. Emotion clouds the judgment needed to solve them. Knowing the difference is what separates leaders who last through change from those who get replaced by it.

TRAILBLAZER TIP OF THE WEEK

Before you build anything, test it with an index card.

Andrew Ackerman's advice for founders about to sink months into an app or product: sketch each screen on an index card, find someone who doesn't know you, and walk them through it like it's real. Have them tap, swipe, and point at the paper, and say out loud what they're thinking as they go. No explaining, no leading them. Do this with 10 to 20 people and you'll know what to build, and just as important, what not to, before you spend a single dollar on development.

SUCCESS STORIES

Aurora Winter, MBA, Author

At 50, Aurora Winter finally kept a promise she made to herself at age nine: to write a book like the Narnia series that first turned her into a lifelong reader. The result is a fiction trilogy, and its third installment recently hit #1 on Amazon in its category. She's treating it as a passion project rather than a business, but the BBC has already expressed interest in developing it for television. Her advice for anyone sitting on an old dream: "You don't have forever."

INNOVATORS UNVEILED BUSINESS 15
